Philips Hue Bridge Connection Issues

Post by roger543 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:05 am

Have Philips Hue lights set up with a working Hue Bridge through the philips hue app. Came across your Home Control App and liked the idea of having desktop computer controlling the hue lights. The problem running into is not being able to connect the bridge to your software. The software finds the correct Hue Bridge IP and then click Get User Key. At this point a pop up window appears showing to click on the button on the hue bridge. When doing so, nothing happens. Have tried disabling computer wifi and connecting computer to router directly with ethernet. No luck. Turned off firewall and no luck. Some customer support would be much appreciated. Thank You.

Am using a Mac desktop. Do you have any solutions? Am well under the max 50 lights on a single hue bridge meaning the bridge memory isn't full and should accept more data.

It is repeatedly trying to get the key from that IP until it sees when the button is pressed and then gets the key. It is some kind of network issue. Is your computer on the same VLAN?

The bridge is connected with ethernet to the router. The computer is connected to the router through wifi. Home has a single router and few routers set to bridge mode to make a mesh network. Thats about how much i know about network set ups. Are there some settings need to adjust or anything you can recommend to do? Thank You

Possibly your router is putting the wifi in a separate network/VLAN? Are all three lights on on the bridge?

It could be something with the way the wifi is configured. Or you could try plugging the computer into the same router with ethernet, at least just to see if the button works.... I just noticed that you may have tried it. Definitely, completely disable any software firewalls while testing.
It is probably a network configuration issue, but I don't know exactly what. This is not a common issue.
If you can't use the app and need to request refund, you can do it through the app store.
